๐Ÿ““Key Concepts to Learn๐Ÿ’ก

  1. CRM Data ๐Ÿ“Š

    • What It Is: Tracks bookings, including new sales, expansions, and downgrades. Itโ€™s the source of truth for bookings data!

    • Why It Matters: Shows where growth comes from and helps with forecasting.

    • How Itโ€™s Used: Clean booking data supports calculating core metrics, especially GTM efficiency metrics.

  2. Financial Data ๐Ÿ’ฐ

    • What It Is: Includes your Profit & Loss (P&L) statement, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.

    • Why It Matters: Essential for transparency and required during due diligence. Feeds our forecast model and SaaS metrics.

    • How Itโ€™s Used: Informs the overall financial health and supports accurate forecasting.

  3. HRIS Data ๐Ÿ‘ฅ

    • What It Is: Payroll and Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) headcount by department.

    • Why It Matters: Important for workforce planning and budgeting. A critical check during due diligence.

    • How Itโ€™s Used: Helps forecast labor costs and plan for future hiring. We need those FTE Reports by Department each month!

  4. Customer & Revenue Data โš™๏ธ๐Ÿ’ธ

    • What It Is: Data from your operational workflows and revenue systems, especially for usage-based models.

    • Why It Matters: Helps adjust SaaS metrics on the go to ensure all revenue sources are accounted for. We need the data to create our MRR schedules which in turn creates our MRR Waterfall.

    • How Itโ€™s Used: Keeps forecasts accurate and up-to-date for real-time decision-making. Needed for retention calculations and more!

For an accurate and repeatable FP&A process, we must have these data sources locked in!
